INSTRUCTION ON THE EUCHARIST

At the center of Christian life is the Holy Eucharist. Though governed by law and ritual books, the celebration of the Eucharist has varied from place to place--with many variations stepping outside the boundaries of the law. Instruction on the Eucharist addresses the deviations in and from liturgical norms and laws as they pertain to the celebration and adoration of the Eucharist. Pope John Paul II laid the groundwork in 2003 for this Instruction with his encyclical On the Eucharist (Ecclesia de Eucharistia). From the Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments in consultation with the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith.
